The Okapi Fund is an international trust fund dedicated to the sustainable financing of biodiversity conservation and protected areas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Created to contribute to the long-term preservation of the Congo Basin’s ecosystems, the Fund mobilizes financial resources from international partners, invests its capital sustainably through prudent and professional management, and then allocates the generated income in the form of grants to supported protected areas and conservation initiatives.
Today, the Okapi Fund is a structured and independent trust mechanism committed to transparency, good governance, and sustainable financing for conservation in the DRC.
The Fund does not directly manage the day-to-day operations of protected areas. It operates through a mechanism of grants, monitoring, and institutional support for park managers and conservation partners.
Through its long-term financial model, the Okapi Fund helps strengthen the stability of funding dedicated to biodiversity, local communities, and the protection of ecosystems of global importance.
